Can I use this photo for online passport renewal?
For US online renewal, upload your original, unedited camera photo directly in the State Department's application and use its cropping tool. Our 4×6 sheet is for printing; a processed download is not a replacement for the original-photo requirement.
Can I smile in a US passport photo?
A natural smile is allowed as long as your mouth is closed and both eyes are open. A neutral expression is safest.
Can I wear glasses?
No. Since 2016 eyeglasses must be removed for US passport photos unless you have a signed medical statement.
What size is a US passport photo?
2 × 2 in (51 × 51 mm). The head must measure 25–35 mm from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head, with the eyes 28.6–34.9 mm above the bottom edge. The tool estimates the crop automatically; review the guides and any warnings before downloading.
How do I take the photo at home?
Stand about 1.5 m (4–5 ft) in front of a plain light wall, face a window for even light, and have someone take the photo at eye level. Keep your mouth closed, both eyes open, no glasses, and leave space above your head and your shoulders in view.
What do I get?
A cropped JPEG at 1200 × 1200 px and a 4×6 in (10×15 cm) print sheet with copies and cut guides. Printing costs extra. For US online renewal, submit your original camera photo directly in the government application and crop it there.
What if my photo is rejected?
Email us within 14 days with the rejection notice and we'll refund you in full.
What happens to my photo?
The original is removed after 24 hours. Purchased downloads remain available for 30 days from payment. Unpurchased previews normally expire 30 days after upload; an unresolved checkout may delay deletion until payment or cancellation is confirmed. Keep your private link secure.
