Walgreens passport photo: price, what you get, and a cheaper way

Walgreens lists $16.99 for two 2×2 inch passport prints and a free digital copy by email, according to its official passport photo page, checked October 23, 2026. Check local availability, tax and any current offers before visiting.

What you get at the counter

• Two printed 2×2 inch photos on photo paper
• A photo taken against the store's white backdrop
• A digital copy by email at no extra charge, according to Walgreens

The cheaper route: take it at home, print it at Walgreens

You can take a photo at home, but it still needs to meet the State Department's requirements. For a printed application:

1. Take a photo at home against a plain white or off-white wall, facing a window.
2. Upload it to our US passport photo tool. It crops the photo to 2×2 inches, sizes your head to 1–1⅜ inches, and checks the rules.
3. Review every check before buying the 4×6 print sheet. Check your chosen photo printer's price and whether it accepts your file without resizing.
4. Cut along the guides. You get several passport photos from one print.

For US online renewal, upload your original, unedited camera photo directly in the government application and crop it there. Our print sheet is for printing.

Printing tips

• Order the print at 4×6 in and turn off any "fit to page" or cropping option. The photos must print at exact size.
• Glossy or matte photo paper are both accepted. Regular printer paper is not.
• Check the size with a ruler after printing: each photo should measure exactly 2 inches square.

When the counter is the better choice

The store is useful if you want someone to take the picture and produce the prints. Preparing a print sheet at home lets you retake the picture and inspect a preview first, but you still need to arrange printing. Compare the software price plus printing and tax with the store's full service price.
